International Women's Day

International Women's Day (IWD) is admired on the 8th of March every year around the world. It is a centre of interest in the movement for women's rights. The day has happen for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911. The day is not group, country or organization specific - and be a member to all groups collectively everywhere.

History International Women's Day (IWD) has been observed since the early 1900's - a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies. 

What colours signify International Women's Day? 

Internationally, purple is a colour for represent women. Historically the combination of white, purple, and green to signify women's equality originated from the Women's Political and Social Union in the UK in 1908. Purple symbolises dignity and justice. Green signifies hope. White represents purity, but is no longer used due to 'purity' being a contentious concept.
